What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an enthusiastic, inspirational Headteacher to lead our committed team at this highly aspirational school. You will build on our clear vision to encourage our children to develop a passion for life-long learning and fulfil their full potential, both academically and more widely. You will develop a clear strategy to drive forward our school, making use of the excellent learning resources, proximity to Croydon and London and extensive outdoor space. You will be open and transparent, working collaboratively with staff, the Governing Board and wider members of the school community, to ensure that all our children achieve their best outcomes. You will have a clear understanding of how to support children from a diverse set of backgrounds and with a range of needs, ensuring that all children have access to a broad, balanced and aspirational curriculum.
What the school offers its staff
We were proud to be rated as Good during our recent Ofsted inspection and are striving for recognition where we are outstanding. We have strong values and a clear ethos and are currently outside of an Academy Trust. Our children are diverse, happy, polite and supportive of each other. You will be supported by an effective and committed Governing Board, who will give you the opportunity to develop the school, with valued support from the local authority and strong local school networks. You will be encouraged in your own professional development alongside motivating and developing the senior leadership team and, through them, the whole school community. The school has very good transport and road links to Bromley and Croydon and central London is less than an hour away.
Commitment to safeguarding
Through safer recruitment practices, we uphold our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff and voluvolunteers to share this commitment. We are an equal opportunities and inclusive employer and we welcome applications from all people representative of our community.

Forestdale Primary School is a maintained school in the London Borough of Croydon with 415 pupils on roll. We draw pupils from many different communities and backgrounds. 18% of our children are on the SEND register, 28% have English as an additional language (39 different languages are spoken) and 23% are in receipt of Pupil Premium funding.
Forestdale is a good school and on a successful journey towards outstanding. We have a fabulous learning environment with sound structures and systems and a supportive community. Our aim is for all children to develop a passion for life-long learning so that they can reach their potential, have high aspirations, embrace future opportunities, responsibilities and experiences and contribute meaningfully to society.
Our spacious modern building has extensive grounds and we have made the best use of every space to provide a rich learning setting. We have bright classrooms to work in and many other areas to support our cross-curricular approach to learning. Special areas include the ICT suite (with enough computers for one per child), a fabulous new sports hall with table tennis tables, a gymnasium with wall bars, a fully stocked library and a space themed learning resource centre. We have a large field for outdoor learning and outdoor sports, a pond, an allotment where we grow our own fruits and vegetables, an outdoor classroom/gazebo, two stages and a reading garden.
It is our terrific team of teachers and teaching assistants who are responsible on a daily basis for the academic progress and pastoral care of the children. Teachers are supported in this work by the Leadership Team, Teaching Assistants, Office Team, Lunchtime Supervisors, our site team and cleaning staff. All teaching staff have responsibilities beyond their own class, which usually involve the whole school in some way e.g. subject responsibilities. During the school day, teachers sometimes take other classes or groups of children for a variety of subjects, enabling all children to experience tuition and relationships with a number of adults.
