Headteacher job summary

The Grange Academy is a welcoming and ambitious junior school in Letchworth, serving 137 pupils and forming a proud part of the Agora Learning Partnership. The school serves a diverse community, with 29% of pupils identified as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)and 33% of pupils eligible for Pupil Premium funding. This context reflects the school's strong commitment to inclusion and its determination to ensure that every child, regardless of starting point or circumstance, is supported to thrive.

At the heart of the school is a commitment to ensuring every child is known, valued and encouraged to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally. The Grange Academy provides a nurturing environment where children develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning.

The school is on an exciting journey of improvement. Recent developments have strengthened many aspects of school life, and there is a clear ambition to build upon this positive momentum. The curriculum is designed to engage and inspire pupils, while promoting the knowledge, skills and personal qualities needed for future success. Alongside academic achievement, the school places significant importance on pupils' personal development, wellbeing and enrichment opportunities, ensuring children leave as confident, resilient and responsible citizens.

Following the school's recent Ofsted inspection, focused work has already been undertaken by the dedicated staff team and Interim Executive Headteacher to address the identified areas for development. Strong foundations have been established, and the school is now seeking a dynamic and strategic leader who can accelerate this improvement journey, embedding recent changes and ensuring that the impact of these actions is seen consistently across the school.

This role presents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Headteacher who can build upon the progress already made, maintaining the school's positive culture while driving the next phase of development. The successful candidate will work closely with staff, governors and staff across Agora to ensure that improvement priorities are delivered at pace and that all pupils benefit from the highest quality education and support.

The Grange Academy is looking for a leader who can inspire confidence, develop others and create a shared sense of purpose. They will recognise and celebrate the strengths that already exist within the school while bringing the vision, energy and determination needed to secure sustained improvements in outcomes and experiences for every child.

The Grange Academy has been part of the Agora Learning Partnership since its inception in September 2017. The Trust is an inclusive, collaborative and forward-looking family of schools, where all members of the community "work together, learn together and succeed together" to provide the very best educational experiences and opportunities for every child. The successful candidate will benefit from the support, challenge and collaboration that come from being part of a Trust committed to excellence, inclusion and continuous improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a school with a committed staff team, supportive governors and a clear direction of travel. The next Headteacher will have the opportunity to build upon the substantial progress already made and lead The Grange Academy confidently into its next chapter of success.
