HEADTEACHER job summary

The Governors of Thorner’s Church of England VA Primary School are wishing to appoint a Headteacher with effect from September 2020. This is an opportunity to lead a small and successful primary school set within the Bride Valley, a delightful rural location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We are 3 miles from the coast, halfway between Bridport and Dorchester.

This vacancy has arisen due to the retirement of the current Headteacher; it is an exciting opportunity to build on a secure legacy and to lead the school towards excellence. The school’s strong Christian ethos permeates its community, curriculum and pastoral identity and we are looking for someone who will embrace and nurture our Christian values.

We welcome applications from both experienced Headteachers and from candidates currently working within a school leadership team who are looking to take their first Headteacher appointment.

Generic qualifications, knowledge, experience, skills and qualities to fulfil this role are set out in "National Standards of Excellence for Headteachers" (DFE - 00019 - 2015) published by the Department for Education.

We offer:
• A very supportive and highly motivated staff team
• A committed Governing Body
• A well resource school in a wonderful setting
• Strong links with the parents and the wider community
