What skills and experience we're looking for
We are looking for an ambitious and creative leader who has the drive and commitment to take our school on the next stage of its journey towards excellent teaching and learning for all.
In common with all schools in our Trust, our goal is nothing short of the transformation of the lives of our children, staff and community - inspiring each other to keep developing, improving and simply being curious about all aspects of education.
This post is a special opportunity for a committed strategic leader to make their mark in a school that is ready to embrace development and improvement. As in all leadership roles, you will face challenges – but you will find a staff team committed to professional development, with areas of high quality teaching, and a wider collegiate Trust culture that is ready to support you.
To be the successful candidate you will:
- demonstrate inspirational leadership qualities, behaviours and attributes
- have excellent, well-developed interpersonal skills
- have a strong commitment to inclusion, diversity and flexible working practices
- be truly ambitious for our vibrant school and trust and for each and every child within it
- be able to build and sustain strong communities within and outside of the school
- be able to innovate, embrace and manage complex whole-school change.

Willow Tree Primary School is a large, vibrant school close to Harrogate town centre. We are a school at the heart of our community, striving for a creative and enjoyable approach to learning for every child.
Formed from a merger of two predecessor schools over ten years ago, we enjoy a large school site, with facilities spread across a generous estate including large areas for outdoor play and learning.
Since April 2022, we have been part of a growing Partnership Trust, joining a family of nine schools across Harrogate, Skipton and Keighley. We work especially closely with our neighbouring Trust schools, Starbeck, Hookstone and New Park academies, supporting each other to develop high quality teaching and learning for all our pupils.
