Skills
- Strong classroom management skills and confidence leading whole-class learning
- Excellent communication skills with pupils, staff, and parents
- Ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate learning activities
- Good understanding of the primary curriculum
- Adaptability to meet a range of learning needs, including SEN
- Leadership skills to support and guide other support staff
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback
- Problem-solving skills and initiative when working independently
- ICT proficiency to support teaching and learning
- Ability to motivate and engage pupils of varying abilities
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Experience
- Experience leading whole-class lessons in the absence of a teacher
- Supporting teaching and learning across different year groups
- Planning and delivering small group and intervention sessions
- Experience working with pupils with SEN, including adapting resources
- Contributing to lesson planning alongside teachers
- Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupil progress
- Experience supporting behaviour management strategies
- Mentoring or supporting other teaching assistants
- Working collaboratively with teachers and senior leaders
- Involvement in school initiatives, clubs, or enrichment activities
- Experience implementing school policies and procedures
- Relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
