Home and School Liaison Officer job summary

About this Role

We are seeking a proactive and committed Home and School Liaison Officer to support improved pupil attendance, engagement and wellbeing. You will work closely with pupils, families, schools and external agencies to identify and address barriers to regular attendance.

Managing a caseload of pupils, you will provide early help and targeted support, undertake home visits, contribute to safeguarding and welfare interventions, and support schools to implement effective attendance strategies. You will build positive relationships with families, work collaboratively with professionals and, where appropriate, support the escalation of cases in line with Trust policies, legislation and statutory guidance.

About the School

Our school is part of a collaborative and dynamic Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) that fosters an inclusive and ambitious learning community. We are dedicated to providing high-quality education, creating an environment where every individual is encouraged to reach their full potential. Our school culture promotes collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to excellence in everything we do.

About the Trust

BMAT is a thriving community of schools, committed to providing an outstanding education for every student attending one of our schools. We create environments where individuals matter, confidence flourishes, and every child can achieve exceptional outcomes. We currently oversee seven secondary academies and five primary academies, primarily located in Harlow, with additional sites in Newham and Stansted.

The Trust’s vision is clear - to work together to smash through the barriers that prevent children from becoming confident, high-achieving, and independent individuals.

What can BMAT offer you? BMAT provides a range of benefits to support your personal and professional well-being:

Generous employer pension contribution through Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme

Private healthcare benefits, including 24/7 Doctorline access

Home and electronic salary sacrifice scheme

Cycle to work

Discounted Gym membership through salary sacrifice

Lifestyle and discount savings

Workplace nursery fee salary sacrifice scheme via Yellownest

24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for wellbeing support

In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance, we may also conduct an online search about any shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence to identify any matters that might relate directly to our legal duty to meet safeguarding duties, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)

Early applications are encouraged. We reserve the right to close this advertisement prior to the stated closing date should a suitable candidate be short listed and appointed.
