What skills and experience we're looking for
We are seeking to appoint a Home School Link Worker to work preventatively with families, children and the school to provide early intervention, signposting, support and guidance. The role is fixed-term initially, for up to 12 months initially, to cover maternity leave.
Home-school liaison is a child and parent-centred partnership that builds positive relationships, enabling improved attendance and behaviour by reducing family and environmental barriers to learning. The Home School Link Worker plays a significant role within the school community, developing strong partnerships with outside agencies and positive working relationships with families to enable effective support for students and their families. Any emerging difficulties can be tackled at an early stage with targeted interventions, guidance and support with an emphasis on creating an environment which promotes attendance and engagement with learning.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, reliable and trustworthy person with excellent communication skills to join our supportive and dedicated pastoral team. You will need to be able to use judgement in receiving and dealing with sensitive information and have the resilience to deal with challenging situations involving child protection issues.
The successful candidate will ideally have some prior experience of working with children and young people and supporting families. A knowledge and understanding of the education sector or experience of working within a school environment would also be desirable.
What the school offers its staff
We offer a competitive salary, a supportive and friendly working environment with amazing students and a range of benefits including opportunities for continued professional development, a cycle to work scheme, on site free parking, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, a staff wellbeing day per year and access to an Employee Assistance Programme and 24/7 virtual GP service.
Flexible working opportunities
We are willing to consider flexible working options for the right candidate.
