What skills and experience we're looking for
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team
Ability to create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships with parent/carers, colleagues, line manager and a variety of people at all levels, internal and external to Talbot Specialist School
Ability to organise and prioritise workload with minimum supervision, and to work to tight deadlines.
Ability to work flexibly and contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school
Able to balance and prioritise service with conflicting needs
Ability to listen, gather information and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with a range of people
Ability to communicate face to face and over the telephone in a professional, confident and courteous manner
Ability to communicate and liaise with representatives of different agencies/departments/disciplines
Ability to understand and respond to the needs of parent/carers and partners from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to demonstrate a calm manner and an ability to handle difficult situations
Ability to input information and retrieve data using word processing and spreadsheet packages
Ability to be pro-active with the development of processes/systems
Ability to manage and process information from a variety of sources
Ability to sort information alphabetically and numerically
Ability to receive and process sensitive information
Understanding of the reasons for and ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
Ability to maintain and promote equal opportunities policies and apply the principles of equal opportunities
Demonstrate practical knowledge of Local Authority education HR policies and procedures
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING
NVQ Level 4 or equivalent or able to demonstrate the competencies required to carry out this role
Competent, confident use of IT packages including word, excel, publisher, email, SIMS database etc
Office Administration experience
Literacy and Numeracy Skills
Human Resource Administration experience
WORK RELATED CIRCUMSTANCES
Required to be work as part of a team providing sickness/absence as and when required
Willing to undertake both in-house and external training and other learning activities and performance development as required
The flexibility to meet the full range of job requirements
Ability to work early mornings
Able to travel to offsite provisions, meetings and events

Our School:
Talbot Specialist School is a recently inspected good school for students aged 11-19 with Cognition and Learning Difficulties – including emotional needs, behavioural needs, profound and complex learning difficulties and autism. We are based in the South of Sheffield, serving approximately 240 young people and their families from across the city. Situated on the same site as Newfield School, we offer high quality facilities which enable our students to be as independent and prepared as possible to have purposeful and fulfilled adult lives. We actively seek opportunities to promote inclusion and work closely with Newfield and other Sheffield Special Schools.
We have a new leadership team in place and are developing our provision to include learning at different sites across the city. This is an exciting time to join the school and to be part of our amazing journey!
