Are you excited about changing direction from Mainstream teaching to SEMH?
Do you believe you have what it takes to work with some amazingly vibrant young people?
Then why not come and join us at King’s Oak SEMH Secondary School, part of the Imperium Federation?
We are looking for an amazingly skilled teacher to come and join our recently inspected Good with elements of Outstanding SEMH secondary school within the heart of the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
We can offer a highly supportive and skilled team to work with, as well as some amazing young people, who want to work with you in supporting their behaviours - whilst helping them to move forward with both their academic and vocational studies.
Your main role will be teaching KS 3 pupils within our main school and there is an expectation that you would work within our KS 3 phase - which has been modelled on highly successful and embedded primary methodology.
Although we are happy to consider colleagues with a wide range of subject knowledge, the ability to teach GCSE RS/PSHE or GCSE PE/BTEC Sport would be advantageous.
Although we are a specialist secondary school, we proactively welcome enquiries from experienced mainstream colleagues and in particular, primary trained staff who would like to extend their skill base.
The main school supports pupils who have an EHCP and whose behaviours have made it difficult to be educated within a mainstream class. They are intelligent, vibrant and willing to learn! Our successes are awe inspiring due to the wonderful commitment and drive of our team - with our pupils achieving the same and in some cases better GCSE’s than their mainstream counterparts.
We welcome informal discussions (as due to the current pandemic, we are unable to facilitate physical visits), so please contact Meic Griffiths - Executive Headteacher for King’s Oak SEMH Secondary and Waterside Primary, Outreach, nest, Nurture and Nook Schools.
Please note: Imperium Federation (Borough maintained not multi academy trust) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are subject to pre-employment checks. References will be sought and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Closing Date: Monday May 17th 12pm

Imperium Federation
King's Oak School is a secondary school for pupils with SEMH needs.
The school has undergone a radical change since federating with Waterside in July 2018, following Waterside's leadership supporting the school since January 2018.
The federation of the two schools is not an academy. Both schools remain within the local authority - but now have one Governing Board and Executive Headteacher.
King's Oak School offers tailor made pathways for pupils who may have found mainstream education difficult - but this does not mean that they would not have the opportunity to return, either to a mainstream secondary school or further education.
At Key Stage 3, which for King's Oak School is Years 7 and 8, the pupils receive a tailored curriculum, mainly based in one 'home room' with the same teacher and TA. They receive specialist input from the maths, science, art, music, catering specialists within the school.
At Key Stage 4, which for King's Oak School is Years 9,10 and 11, the pupils have their options for how to move their education even further forward. This can be done in one of three ways:
• Academic - if a pupil shows a drive for academic study and is looking to go onto further education, they have the option of taking a variety of exams in subjects offered both at King's Oak and at our partners sites.
• Vocational - if a pupil shows a drive for apprenticeship or the world of work, the curriculum is tailored to ensure that they spend three days in an industry placement and two days at King's Oak - developing their functional skills in maths, English, science etc.
• Mixed Route - if a pupil isn't sure about their next steps - this is the route for them. They spend two days in an industry placement and three days at King's Oak - developing both their functional and further skills.
We strive to ensure that our pupils have every opportunity to succeed and we work tirelessly with their families, the industry providers and other services to ensure that they will.
You are more than welcome to talk to Meic (Executive Head) or Jill (Head of School) about current and future plans for King's Oak.
