Kids Club Worker job summary

At Devonshire Primary Academy, we are looking to appoint a flexible and reliable Kids Club Worker to join our Honeycombers wraparound care team on a casual basis to provide short-notice cover for staff absence. A casual contract is a type of employment agreement where work is offered on an as-needed basis; there is no obligation for you to accept work offered and there is no obligation for the school to offer work.

The successful candidate will:

  • Organise and maintain play equipment, ensuring safe and tidy storage.
  • Supervise and lead play activities.
  • Support children’s wellbeing through engaging and inclusive play experiences.
  • Uphold behaviour standards in line with school policy.
  • Be adaptable and ready to step in across different sessions with minimal notice.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and children, maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding standards.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Available at the times work may be offered (7:45 - 8:45am & 15:15 - 17:15).
  • Flexible and dependable, with the ability to respond quickly to cover needs.
  • Confident and proactive in leading play activities.
  • Committed to creating a safe, fun and supportive environment for children.

Devonshire Primary Academy is a happy, exciting and productive school with a wealth of opportunities for our children and staff. We can offer you:

  • The chance to be part of a closely connected, dedicated and hardworking staff;
  • A friendly and supportive whole school staff team;
  • Opportunities for professional development;
  • A commitment to reducing staff workload and prioritising staff wellbeing – The Sea View Trust has signed up to the DfE Wellbeing Charter and Devonshire Primary Academy was named as Active Workplace of the Year 2023 at Active Lives Community Awards;
  • A consistent, supportive and fair approach to dealing with staff absence, which applies to all employees and covers all types of absence;
  • Term time employment, allowing you to spend school holidays with family;
  • Enrolment into a pension scheme – employees do not pay tax or national insurance on their pension contributions and the school add a generous employer contribution;
  • Free onsite parking;
  • The option to purchase a new bicycle and cycling equipment via salary sacrifice making tax and national insurance savings; and
  • The opportunity to work in a school which is at the heart of its community and always looking for innovative ways to provide the best education.

We invite you to peruse our school website: https://www.devonshire.blackpool.sch.uk/ and our Facebook Page: Devonshire Primary Academy to gain an insight into our wonderful school.

The closing date for applications is 08/12/2025 at 9:00am and interviews are currently scheduled to take place on 11/12/2025.

We look forward to receiving your application should you wish to apply.

Devonshire Primary Academy is a coeducational primary school with academy status that is situated at the heart of an area of economic and social deprivation in a densely populated part of Blackpool.

The staff team is made up of approximately 80 teaching and non-teaching members and we educate learners aged 3 to 11.

We place great emphasis on our ability to provide a secure, caring and welcoming environment in which everyone has pride in themselves and strives to achieve the highest possible standard of learning, behaviour and attitudes. Children start our school with attainment well below that typical for their age and we endeavour to ensure that all children leave our care with a love of education and with the building blocks they need to become confident, life-long learners.

Our dedicated staff, parents and governors all work together to make Devonshire Primary Academy the best environment for our children to thrive.
