Kingfisher Kids Out of School Club Playworker job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join our friendly primary school. We are seeking to appoint a friendly, reliable, After School Club Play Leader to join our team in our busy Kingfisher Kids After School Club. The club provides for up to 60 places for our 4-11 year old’s. You will be jointly responsible for the day to day organisation of Kingfisher Kids Out of School Club to provide an interesting and stimulating environment by organising resources purposefully in a safe and caring environment. You will also be required to plan a range of age appropriate creative and play activities.

This is a permanent position. Previous experience working with children is desirable but not essential as full training can be provided. A first aif qualification would also be desirable.

The days of work are Monday to Friday and there will be some flexibility for additional hours to cover staff absence.

Nene Valley is a medium sized (1.5-form entry) school, that expanded from 1 form entry due to high local demand. The school is consistently at capacity and always over-subscribed, with more than 100 applications for 45 places for entry in September 2022. Despite drops in applications throughout the
city, demand for Nene Valley remains high.
The school demography is not considered high need, with a low number of pupils eligible for pupil premium (8%), lower than average SEND (11%) and a small number of EHCPs (1%). The school does have a high number of children with English as an Additional Language (24%) and a large number of languages spoken (24) and 14 different ethnic groups. However, the majority of those native language speakers have a good and developing knowledge of English.
