KS3 Teacher of Maths job summary
Are you passionate about developing the academic progress, emotional well-being and pastoral care for our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils?
Hugh Sexey Church of England Middle School are delighted to offer the opportunity to secure a permanent teaching post as teacher of Key Stage 3 mathematics, to prepare our pupils to flourish through Key Stage 4 at our partner upper school, Kings Academy and achieve the consistently outstanding results as year 11 leavers we are so proud of.
We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated teacher who wants to make a real difference to our pupils and has the passion for their subject that will inspire and encourage all pupils, regardless of ability, to approach mathematics with energy and a determination to succeed; preparing them to flourish in a challenging Key Stage 4 curriculum at our partner upper school, Kings Academy, Cheddar.
You will join an experienced, happy and supportive maths department, ably supported by two maths specialist Learning Support Assistants offering targeted support to our SEND pupils and bespoke ‘Catch-Up’ for our most vulnerable learners.
This post would be ideally suited to an ambitious practitioner who will maximise the opportunities available to them, working as part of the growing and forward-thinking Wessex Learning Trust in the Cheddar Valley. We would be delighted to receive applications from both experienced teachers and NQTs alike.

Welcome to Hugh Sexey Church of England Middle School!
We are very proud of our school and the progress that our pupils make, both academically and socially. In June 2012 the school was judged as 'OUTSTANDING' by Ofsted and in September 2017 we had a Church inspection (SIAMS) which also judged our school to be ‘OUTSTANDING’.
We are a very busy, friendly learning community, with lots going on. Our pupils make outstanding progress here - not only academically but in all areas of school life. Our Christian foundation is very important in the life of our school and shapes all that we do on a daily basis and this is strengthened through our strong links with the local churches. Children are at the heart of everything we do and this has been enhanced further with the formal collaboration with our partner First and Upper schools in the Wessex Learning Trust. We really do believe that ‘We learn together’ and through this promote a well-planned 2-19 school curriculum and personal development journey.
We are a very popular oversubscribed Middle school, attracting many families from outside of our catchment area. This is because parents tell us that they prefer the three-tiered, middle school system and feel it promotes a more effective education for their child.
