What skills and experience we're looking for
As a now oversubscribed Catholic secondary school, St Joseph’s Catholic Academy is keen to appoint an aspiring middle leader as our new Lead Practitioner for Science to join our thriving Science Department. This is an additional role to our Science team, to support in implementing the departmental and school development plans.
As a Lead Practitioner at St Joseph’s, you will have a pivotal role in working as part of the Leadership team within the department to continually improve the quality of teaching, subject knowledge and outcomes within all three Science disciplines across Keys Stages 3 and 4, and Key Stage 5, as appropriate.
Our Lead Practitioners also work as part of the wider Teaching & Learning Team to continuously improve outcomes for students of all abilities through leading on a key whole school initiative.
Demonstrable experience of delivering impactful interventions and supporting wider school departments to proactively engage with these initiatives is key to this role, including delivering CPD to staff and managing workload and wellbeing of others.
