Due to the expansion of Fitzwaryn into a satellite site on the site of St John’s Academy in Grove in September 2026, Propeller Academy Trust is looking to hire a dedicated and passionate Lead Teacher with TLR responsibilities.

Located in the heart of Wantage, Fitzwaryn School is highly regarded as an outstanding provision for educating children and young people aged 3-19 with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound & multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and autism (ASD). About the Role

  • Lead and deliver high‑quality teaching for a satellite class, using assessment to drive progress and interventions
  • Manage the day‑to‑day operation of the satellite provision, ensuring safety, consistency, and effectiveness
  • Act as the key link between the satellite class, main school, parents/carers, and host site
  • Line‑manage and support, support staff, promoting high standards of practice and behaviour
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding, pupil welfare, and effective behaviour management
  • Contribute to the strategic development and reputation of the school’s extended provision
  • Contribute to whole-school development and our inclusive, forward-thinking ethos

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) and proven ability to adapt teaching to meet a wide range of individual needs (MLD,SLD, PMLD, Autism)
  • Experience or strong understanding of how children and young people with SEND learn, including theory and best practice
  • Experience or strong understanding of working with pupils with EHCPs
  • Knowledge of current SEN legislation, statutory guidance relating to SEND, safeguarding and the curriculum
  • Creative, adaptable and committed to the ethos, values and inclusive vision of the school
  • A resilient, positive team player who builds strong relationships with pupils and families
  • Strong sense of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality
  • A reflective and proactive practitioner with a growth mindset

Fitzwaryn is an Outstanding Special School for children and young people from 3 – 19 years old whose Special Educational Needs range from Moderate Learning Difficulties through to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.

The staff team is committed to further developing their own skills and expertise through the Continuing Professional Development offered at the school.
