Job Title: Lead Technician (Science and Art)

Contract: Fixed-term, 11 months (September 2025 – July 2026)

Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (24 hours per week), 39 weeks per year (term time only)

Salary: Col4 + M4 allowance (£35,563 – £37,391 FTE)

Pro-rated: £19,579 – £20,585 (24 hours) / £32,631 – £34,309 (40 hours)


We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Lead Technician to oversee our Science and Art technician team and ensure high-quality technical support across both departments. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting innovative, hands-on learning for students, while leading and developing a dedicated team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and manage the technician team, fostering a supportive and collaborative working environment.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to deliver effective technical support for lessons, projects, and enrichment activities.
  • Oversee the safe preparation, use, and maintenance of equipment, materials, and laboratory/workshop spaces.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, including COSHH procedures and risk assessments.
  • Support the wider school community by contributing to events, outreach, and partnership activities.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience supporting science in a school or laboratory setting.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Is confident in applying Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Can adapt flexibly to the needs of a busy school environment.

Experience in a school context is desirable but not essential — what matters most is a proactive approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting excellent teaching and learning.
