Learning Mentor job summary
Learning Mentor
Over Hall Community School is seeking a dedicated, kind and compassionate learning support mentor to join our excellent team, focusing on providing exceptional educational, social and emotional support to our pupils, including those who are vulnerable and have additional special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This position offers a unique opportunity for a caring and skilled individual to become a key member of our school community, directly contributing to the growth and wellbeing of our pupils.
The role is 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday based on a 8am - 4pm day, 39 weeks per year including inset days.
As a learning support mentor, you will pay a vital role in facilitating an inclusive and nurturing environment for our children. You will work closely with pupils, including those with diverse educational needs, to foster their academic, social and emotional development. Your responsibilities will include creating and supporting individualised support plans, collaborating with teachers and the Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to tailor learning experiences to ensure inclusion, and offering one-to-one or small group assistance to ensure that each pupil can thrive personally as well as academically.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference for our children. While previous experience in an educational setting or working with SEND children is beneficial, we believe that your enthusiasm, empathy, and willingness to learn are equally important. You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, have the ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as using your own initiative, and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development rooted in a good understanding and experience of the current challenge’s children and school face.
In this role, you will not only support our pupils academically but also contribute significantly to their overall wellbeing. You will be an integral part of our schools’ support system, offering guidance and encouragement to help our most valuable pupils navigate their educational journey with confidence. If you are eager to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and rewarding environment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity
