St Mary’s Catholic Academy is proud to be part of the St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Multi Academy Trust. Following our recent Ofsted inspection, where we were judged to have achieved a strong standard in all areas of the framework, we are seeking to appoint a dedicated, hardworking and committed Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic and supportive team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with and making a positive difference to their educational journey. We are looking for a caring, proactive and flexible practitioner who will work closely with staff, families and external agencies to ensure every child can thrive and achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils individually and in small groups, adapting provision daily to ensure access to an inclusive and engaging curriculum.
- Demonstrate a proactive, flexible and nurturing approach, responding effectively to the changing needs of pupils and helping them achieve their full potential.
- Work closely with class teachers and school staff to support quality first teaching, deliver effective interventions and help pupils make good progress towards their learning goals.
- Foster positive relationships with parents and carers, helping to maintain strong and effective partnerships between home and school.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners where appropriate, drawing upon their expertise to provide the best possible support for pupils.
- Promote high expectations of behaviour and learning, supporting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development in line with the Catholic ethos and values of the school.
Essential Requirements
- Hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification for Teaching Assistants (or an equivalent recognised qualification).
- Have experience of working with primary-aged children, ideally within a Key Stage 2 setting.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Be committed to supporting the Catholic life and mission of the school.
Desirable Requirements
- Relevant training and/or experience in supporting children's learning and development within a primary school environment.
- An understanding of effective strategies that promote pupil engagement, independence and achievement.
Working Hours
- The successful applicant will be required to work Monday to Friday during term time, in accordance with the school's agreed working hours.
