What skills and experience we're looking for
Although it helps, it is not essential to be qualified to apply for this role. You may be looking for a career change and want the opportunity to make a real difference to the education and wellbeing of our children. You may have different lived or work experience, gained in the care sector, or the NHS for example, or worked/volunteered with children in non-school environment. You may be leaving college with a level 2 in education and early years, or a certificate in childcare and are looking for the opportunity to share your skills.
The most important thing is having the right mindset for the role. You need to be proactive, energetic, and committed in order to engage pupils and develop their desire to learn. You will help inspire them to be confident and independent. You will need to be calm, patient, sensitive, and able to comfort children when they are upset. We are looking for people who demonstrate a positive attitude and enthusiasm for creating a supportive learning environment.

Further details about the role
An ELAN LSA is positive, a team player, motivational, flexible, creative, and innovative with a supportive nature, as well as being confident, calm, consistent and resourceful with experience supporting pupils in a classroom environment, with Special Educational Needs or disabilities (SEND).
You will work closely with the class teacher to resource and adapt planning and support high quality teaching and learning across all subjects. You will help to create learning environments where pupils can expand their knowledge working 1:1, small groups and as whole class support. You will work with the school community to uphold our trust and school values.
You need to be proactive, energetic, and committed to engaging pupils, developing their desire to learn. You will help to inspire them to be confident and independent. You will also need to be calm, patient, sensitive and able to comfort children when they’re upset. Previous experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or other high level needs such as global delay or children who have Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs would be favourable.
