Learning Support Assistant job summary
Parkside Community Primary School is a one-form entry school (with two classes in Year 5), proudly serving the Borehamwood community. We were rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in February 2020, and our most recent short inspection in March 2025 confirmed that we continue to maintain these high standards.

We are seeking to appoint a caring, enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo to support pupils with special educational and behavioural needs, helping them to access learning and reach their full potential.
This rewarding role may involve providing one-to-one support for an individual child or working with small groups within the classroom setting. You will assist with planning and delivering targeted activities, monitoring progress and supporting children’s social, emotional and personal development. The role also includes supervising pupils during breaks and lunchtimes and helping to create a positive and nurturing environment across the school.

As a Learning Support Assistant you will:Support pupils with special educational and behavioural needs, both one-to-one and in small groups.
Assist the class teacher and SENCO in delivering planned learning activities and adapting them to pupils’ needs.
Monitor and provide feedback on pupils’ progress, behaviour, and engagement.
Help create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing classroom environment.
Support pupils’ social, emotional, and personal development.
Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and school activities as required.
Liaise with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support pupil learning.
Assist with preparation of classroom resources and learning materials.
Support pupils’ independence with personal care, health, hygiene, and daily routines where needed.
