What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring, flexible and committed team member to join our happy and successful school family to cover a maternity leave position. We are looking for someone to support the teaching and learning of our pupils in the EYFS and Year 1. The post will involve supporting the educational, personal, social and emotional development of our pupils, under the direction of the class teacher. Recent primary school experience is highly advantageous. Knowledge and experience of the Early Years Foundation Stage is desirable, but not essential. As well as supporting children during lessons, the post may involve the delivery of learning to smaller groups. Knowledge of the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds scheme would be highly advantageous.

We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:

  • experience of supporting pupils of different abilities;
  • knowledge of the National Curriculum, including the Early Years curriculum;
  • patience and compassion;
  • the ability to work flexibly;
  • excellent interpersonal skills, being able to communicate effectively with pupils, staff, parents and other professionals;
  • a proactive, self-motivated approach but also able to work as part of a team;
  • a willingness to learn and develop existing skills;
  • a commitment to safeguarding;
  • a sense of humour;
  • willingness to ‘go the extra mile’.
