This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to join our primary school community as a Lunchtime Supervisor with a strong focus on outdoor play.

Unlike traditional lunchtime roles that centre on supporting meals in the lunch hall, this position is dedicated almost entirely to engaging with children in the playground, helping to create a safe, happy and active play environment. You will be part of a friendly and supportive lunchtime team, but this role has a distinct emphasis on leading play, encouraging positive social interactions, and helping children develop important skills such as teamwork, communication and problem‑solving.

As a key adult on the playground, you will build positive relationships with children, introduce fun games and activities, and help ensure that lunchtimes are a joyful, well‑structured part of the school day. To help us see your approach in action, shortlisted candidates will be asked at interview to share a simple game suitable for a small group of primary‑aged children something active, inclusive and easy to join in with. This is a fantastic chance to showcase creativity, energy and an understanding of how to support purposeful play. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys being outdoors, has a natural rapport with children, and wants to make a meaningful impact in just one hour a day.

You will play an important part in shaping a positive school culture and contributing to children’s wellbeing, confidence and enjoyment of school life.

About you:

You will have:

  • Have knowledge of basic hygiene procedures.
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality over matters relating to the academy, with students, staff and/or parents.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, in particular demonstrates empathy and active listening.
  • Be able to relate well to children, young people and adults.
