Operations Officer job summary

At Bradford Alternative Provision Academy, we believe every young person deserves a fresh start, a sense of belonging and the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they may have faced in their educational journey.

We are seeking a highly capable and motivated Operations Officer to support the smooth and effective running of our academy. This is a pivotal role requiring exceptional organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and a commitment to delivering high-quality support in a busy and dynamic environment.

You will work closely with the Heads of Centre/Headteacher, staff, families, external professionals and Trust colleagues to coordinate operational processes, maintain compliance, manage information and communications, and ensure that the academy runs efficiently for the benefit of our young people.

Working in an Alternative Provision setting is unlike any other educational environment. Our pupils often arrive with complex needs and varied experiences, and every day presents new opportunities to help remove barriers to learning and support positive outcomes. It is challenging, fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable, but it is also incredibly rewarding. Few roles offer the opportunity to see such meaningful progress, whether that's a pupil re-engaging with education, achieving qualifications, improving attendance or developing the confidence to take their next steps in life.

We are looking for someone who thrives in a varied role, enjoys solving problems and can bring calm organisation to a complex environment. You will be resilient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, whilst maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.

This role would suit somebody who:

  • Enjoys managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality administrative and operational support
  • Possesses dynamic leadership skills
  • Has excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Can communicate confidently and professionally with colleagues, families and external agencies
  • Is proactive, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement
  • Shares our belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed

In return, we offer:

  • The opportunity to work within a highly respected and ambitious Alternative Provision setting
  • A supportive, collaborative and values-driven team
  • Opportunities for professional development through Exceed Academies Trust
  • A role where your contribution has a direct and visible impact on the lives of young people and their families
  • A healthy work-life balance
  • Free access to an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Free, on-site parking
  • Excellent employer pension contribution scheme

This is more than an operations role. It is an opportunity to be part of a team that changes lives, opens doors and helps young people realise their potential. If you are looking for a role with purpose, challenge and genuine reward, we would love to hear from you.

We would warmly encourage any interested candidates to visit our school setting. In order to do so, please contact Richard Bottomley (Headteacher) on 01274 491986 to make the necessary arrangements.
