What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and highly organised individual with excellent interpersonal skills, who is committed to making a positive difference to the lives of young people. The role is 37 hours per week, working from 8:30am until 4:30pm Monday to Thursday, with an early finish of 4:00pm on Fridays (part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate). The school is also open to some flexible home working within these hours, where this can be accommodated alongside and without compromising the needs of the school.

This is a unique and rewarding role that bridges both professional services (non-teaching) staff and teaching staff, including Heads of Year. The successful candidate will play a central role within our pastoral structure, working collaboratively across teams to ensure high-quality support for students and families.

The position is line-managed by the Assistant Headteacher (Safeguarding) and requires close, regular collaboration with Heads of Year, the Assistant Headteacher (SEND), and the Assistant Headteacher (Standards and Behaviour), reflecting the highly cross-functional nature of the role.

The successful candidate will be exceptionally well supported within our highly effective pastoral system, which includes a Teaching Head of Year and a Teaching Deputy Head of Year for each year group. This strong team structure ensures a collaborative approach to student wellbeing, behaviour, safeguarding, and inclusion.

What the school offers its staff

At St Peter’s, our employees benefit from a comprehensive package designed to support financial wellbeing, health, work-life balance and professional growth. Benefits include access to Blue Light and teacher discounts, a generous pension scheme, health cash plan, free will writing and financial advice services. Colleagues can also access extensive wellbeing support, including an Employee Assistance Programme with counselling sessions, physiotherapy, occupational health services, free flu jabs and a 24/7 wellbeing hub. We promote flexible working where possible, childcare and cycle-to-work schemes, and provide excellent professional development opportunities through apprenticeships, CPD and The National College. Additional perks include free on-site parking, eye test and glasses contributions, and convenient access to local amenities.

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
