What skills and experience we're looking for

Experience. The Ability to:


Work with or care for children (of secondary school age) professionally

Advise teaching and pastoral staff on strategies to support social and emotional needs of students.

Build positive relationships through parental liaison and other agencies

Write Student Support Plans with the purpose of removing barriers to learning

Collaborate with all stakeholders, parents, family, carers, staff, other students, agencies

Contribute effectively in a multi-agency setting e.g. CP, CIN, Early Help

Manage the needs of vulnerable and at risk learners


Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude:

English & Maths GCSE (Grade C or 4 or above)

Relevant training in specialist areas and strong evidence of continued professional development

ICT Literate - competent in the use of SIMS, G4S, Teams and CPOMS

Understanding of young people’s emotional and social needs

Understanding of the barriers to academic progress in post 16 students

Understanding the Sixth Form curriculum and other learning programmes and learning strategies

Policy and Regulatory knowledge for Safeguarding and pastoral areas

Safeguarding Training (willingness to undertake DSL training)

Outstanding communication skills including conflict resolution and de-escalation
