What skills and experience we're looking for

We have an exciting opportunity for a full time, permanent Personal Assistant to join us at Arnold Hill Spencer Academy, we would also welcome applications from candidates seeking a Term Time position. The Personal Assistant to the Principal will support the Principal and Senior Team and will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of the Academy which is always striving for improvement. The overarching purpose of this role is to provide a high-level of support to the Principal and to support other staff in a positive and proactive way demonstrating a high level of initiative, competence and confidentiality across a broad range of activities. The successful candidate must be able to work to a highly professional and organised standard and will be responsible for managing the office administration team.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organised, forward looking, flexible and provide a high standard of secretarial and administrative support. This is a busy role, and you will be required to work flexibly to meet the needs and priorities of the Principal. The role will suit someone with excellent time management, communication and IT skills and a proven track record of providing high level PA support at a senior level, preferably in a school.

Essential

  • Fully competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs – Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel.
  • Numerate and literate with a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working in a busy office
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills; the ability to use discretion, patience, tact and respect for confidentiality in all circumstances; a good command of the English Language; an empathetic approach to different cultures
  • A high level of computer skills. Familiarity with Microsoft applications, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook, and have internet skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload, use initiative and be self-motivating
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, in person, telephone and written

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in a school, with knowledge of SIMS, education processes and procedures would be highly advantageous
