We are seeking to appoint a Receptionist/Administration Assistant to join St Edmund’s Catholic Academy, part of the St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Multi-Academy Trust. We are looking for a student-centred, experienced individual with the drive, commitment, and energy to join our team and support our journey to continually raise educational standards across the Academy.
Working in our busy Reception, the role is responsible for receiving and dealing with a range of visitors to the academy, managing and, where necessary, transferring telephone calls/emails to members of staff, distributing post and other general administrative duties. You should have a balanced mix of interpersonal soft skills, digital technology skills and excellent customer care. A qualified first aider would be a distinct advantage.

- Communication: Have excellent communication skills, speaking clearly with the ability to actively listen.
- Problem Solving: Have sound judgement to quickly resolve unexpected issues and direct unique enquiries to the appropriate person.
- Composure Under Pressure: Remain calm and patient when dealing with multiple interuptions, a ringing telephone or concerned visitors.
- Professionalism: A calm and courteous demeanour to represent the academy in a positive way.
The successful candidate will have the following technical/administrative skills:
- Office Software: Confidently use productivity suites like Google Workspace for email, documents and spreadsheets.
- Communication Platforms: Experience communicating on platforms including Instagram and Facebook.
The successful candidate will have the following organisational skills:
- Multitasking: Confidence juggling phone calls, walk-in guests and administrative tasks simultaneously with accuracy.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain precise records, handle confidential information securely and keep the reception area tidy.
- Time Management: Prioritise urgent tasks and manage workload to keep reception running smoothly and efficiently.
