What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a friendly, organised and reliable Receptionist to join our administrative team. As the first point of contact for visitors, parents and pupils, you will play a key role in creating a welcoming and professional front-of-house environment. Alongside reception duties, you will provide general administrative support to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school office. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong interpersonal and organisational skills who enjoys working in a busy and varied role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors, pupils and staff, providing a welcoming and professional reception service.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls and emails, ensuring enquiries are handled efficiently or directed appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate visitor records in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Provide general administrative support, including filing, data entry and document preparation.
  • Support the wider office team with day-to-day administrative tasks as required.

Key Requirements:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade 4/C or above.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and approachable manner.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
  • Competence in basic IT systems (e.g. Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Bedelsford School is an outstanding special school which aims to provide innovative education and a challenging environment for pupils aged 2 to 19. The school specialises in educating pupils with a wide range of Physical Disabilities including those with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Complex Health needs. However, we are a changing population and many of our pupils now have CLDD (complex learning difficulties and disabilities).

The school converted to Academy status in April 2016 and was last inspected by Ofsted in December 2018 . Inspectors observed: Bedelsford School has high expectations of all and aims to provide consistent and sustained improvement, working collegiately with key partners.

We keenly take account of the development of neuroscientific knowledge and research to better enable us to develop the skills of our staff team, understand the unique ways our pupils learn and implement the teaching strategies which will ensure pupils make the maximum progress they can.
