Receptionist job summary

We are looking for someone with strong experience in a reception role, who can provide a warm and professional front-of-house service at all times.

The ideal candidate will be confident, friendly, and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be the first point of contact for all visitors to the school, so it’s important that you create a welcoming and well-organised environment.

As part of the role, you will also support with some administrative tasks—full training will be provided.

This is a permanent role, working 22.5 hours per week. The hours are 12:00–16:30, Monday to Friday, during term time, plus 5 INSET days and one additional week during school holidays (specific days to be agreed with the line manager).

The successful candidate will contribute to the work of the admin team. You will undertake a wide range of duties such as to prepare, produce and photocopy letters, reports and school publications, and undertaking the efficient filing, record keeping and retrieval of papers and correspondence. You will also work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to oversee the school social media sites. You must be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel, knowledge of Canva is desirable. Knowledge also of school management systems such as Arbor would also be advantageous but not essential.

The Inclusive Multi Academy Trust was established in 2016 by school leaders looking to make a difference to local communities with a commitment to meeting the needs of every child. The Trust consists of three primary schools: Beechfield, Cherry Tree and Laurance Haines who work together to share specialist best practice and work collaboratively to support and challenge each other. We are looking for an individual who:

  • Is numeracy/computer literate and proficient in using Word and Excel.

Cherry Tree Primary School is situated in North Watford, near the Asda/Sainsbury’s Dome roundabout. We have two classes in each year group. We have well equipped classrooms, extensive grounds, a multi-use games area, an allotment, an outside classroom and wildlife area. We converted to academy status on 1st February 2018 and we are part of the Inclusive Multi Academy Trust (IMAT).
