Safeguarding Officer job summary
37 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:00pm and 8.15am to 3.45pm Friday, term time only (39 Weeks). Grade D – Step 1 FTE £25,628, Actual Annual Salary £21,981.00.
We are part of the RAISE Educational Trust which comprises of Wildern School, Deer Park Secondary School and Boorley Park Primary School. We are looking to appoint a dynamic, caring and supportive professional who will oversee the day to day operational running of the safeguarding systems and procedures here at school.
We take safeguarding extremely seriously and have a really inclusive whole school approach to safeguarding our entire community. This role will see the right person liaising with the pastoral teams, teaching staff and wider community to ensure all of our students are cared for under the direct leadership of the Assistant Headteacher (pastoral) and Designated Safeguard Lead (DSL).
The person we are looking for will have an awareness of safeguarding roles and responsibilities, be up to date and informed of local and national safeguarding developments, have working knowledge of KCSIE and Working Together to Safeguard Children and other national documentation relevant to the safeguarding of school children. They will be able to liaise with outside agencies to report, monitor and work alongside our families.
The role will involve:
- Receiving and responding to safeguarding concerns raised in school
- Recording safeguarding concerns on our CPOMs system
- Ensuring that CPOMs is kept up to date, and current.
- Attend Child Protection and Child in Need meetings, core group meetings and Early Help Hub meetings for our students and families
- Prepare reports for CP/CIN meetings
- Prepare reports for SLT and the Local Academy Committee around safeguarding
- Liaise closely with our Heads of Year on safeguarding themes and issues in their year group
- Work with students who are safeguarding concerns to support them in school.
- Liaise with parents and carers where there are concerns, including ongoing contact over time
- Liaise with the Attendance team where there are students missing education.
