School Admissions and Reception Administrator job summary

The heart of a school is more often than not based in the office. A strange statement to make? Possibly, but certainly correct. The people that greet each member of our school community day in and day out are the cogs that keep us turning and the core of who we are. They are the face of the school and deal with ever-changing priorities and needs, with no two days ever being the same. An incredibly important role, that we need a special person to fill. Sounds like a lot we know! Thankfully, we offer a lot in return...

  1. Flexibility and variety in your work, with the chance to develop long lasting relationships
  2. Access to benefits that reflect your individual lifestyle and interests
  3. Term time only (plus 1 week) contract to allow you to balance your work and life. We are one Oasis family and believe your loved ones should always come first
  4. An excellent team of colleagues who are all great at getting the job done, whilst making it a fun and happy place to work – after all you spend most of your time at work, why not make sure the people you work with are real gems?
  5. A true community school, led from the front by an engaged, warm and visible Principal
  6. Working for a trust that exists to improve the life chances of some of the most disadvantaged in society – being part of something bigger that makes a real difference

Are you ready for the chance to join our Oasis family?

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, confident and caring – which are all essential traits when working on the front desk as the face of the school
  • Able to communicate effectively about our school – you'll be the first point of contact for admissions, so must be able to showcase why parents and children should choose us
  • An expert at building relationships – as a central part of our office team you will be in contact with children and parents every day and need to form strong bonds to do your job well
  • Efficient and un-flappable – working in an ever-changing environment you need to be able to manage changing priorities whilst still getting your day-to-day work done

As we’ve said, no two days are the same and there is a lot of variety in the work. But, in practice you are expected to:

  • Work on the reception desk – answering calls, greeting and signing in visitors, parents and children, as well as opening and organising post and taking deliveries
  • Manage the admissions and leavers processes
  • Make phone calls and send messages to parents and carers
  • Put together and sharing our weekly newsletter
  • Submit orders for teachers including stationery and supplies

Including all the other essential activities that crop up each day! It is a busy role with a good mix of hands-on work and being based at your desk. A full job description is attached.
