The school is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic interim Business Leader to cover our current post holder’s maternity leave. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Finance Manager or Business Leader who is able to hit the ground running, building a strong rapport with both School and Trust leaders to ensure that the school’s existing financial strategy is carried out, while maintaining high standards of business practice across the Finance and HR functions of the school.
We are looking for a Business Leader who will:
- Have successful leadership and management experience in a school, or in a relevant field outside education;
- Be an effective line manager, using existing experience and effective communication and interpersonal skills to build positive and effective working relationships with all stakeholders;
- Have experience of using financial and administrative software;
- Be committed to safeguarding, confidentiality and equality;
- Strive to achieve the best outcomes for all pupils;
- Act with integrity, honesty, loyalty and fairness to safeguard the assets, financial probity and reputation of George Mitchell School.

We are an all through school which creates the unique opportunity to work across phases which is great for professional development. We are also part of an academy trust, Partnership Learning, whose specialist directors provide support and guidance across our Finance and HR functions.
We are a small school with 4 form entry at secondary and 2 form entry at primary. The size of each year group means that staff get to know individual students and their families really well and form excellent relationships. The school has a ‘community’ feel built on excellent relationships between all staff. Staff turnover is low and wellbeing good.
Our students benefit from new buildings and improved facilities. We have a vast number of computers, interactive whiteboards in every classroom and banks of laptops that are available for student use.

George Mitchell is within walking distance from Leyton underground and Leyton Midland station.
