Cleaning Assistant

Salary: SC1, Point 3 (£12.85 per hour)

Hours: 20 hours per week (6.30am - 7.30am & 3.00pm – 6.00pm)

Contract: Permanent, term time only + annual banked hours

We are seeking a reliable and committed Cleaning Assistant to join our friendly cleaning team. This role is essential in helping us maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors across the school.

About the role

You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the school, including classrooms, offices, corridors, staircases, toilets, cloakrooms, halls and other areas. You will work within our Health and Safety guidelines and be supported by the Site Manager and Operations Manager.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning designated areas of the school as allocated by the caretaker

  • Using cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and appropriately

  • Reporting any defects or hazards immediately

  • Supporting deep-cleaning tasks during school holiday periods (e.g. high-level dusting, wall washing, moving furniture, floor stripping and sealing

  • Operating machinery such as vacuum cleaners and polishers

  • Carrying out routine cleaning tasks including:

    • Vacuuming hard and soft floors

    • Spot cleaning spillages

    • Wiping furniture, ledges, paintwork and doors

    • Emptying and cleaning waste and recycling bins

  • Closing date: 14th September, 9am
