Principal: Robert McGreal

We are an Outstanding, 11-16 academy based in the picturesque coastal village of Marske-by-the-Sea, close to the stunning North York Moors National Park. We have been part of the Outwood family of schools since 2014.

Since joining the Outwood Family, we have gone from strength to strength and we have seen improvement across all areas of school life. We believe in a collaborative approach, where we all support each other, staff and students, to achieve. During Ofsted’s last inspection, we were proud when the inspectors noted that the school’s ‘leaders are ambitious’ and ‘have high expectations of each other, staff and pupils.’ These expectations are the foundations of a true, supportive and collaborative approach which leads to our high levels of attainment.

We are proud that Outwood Academy Bydales is rated Outstanding by Ofsted and in its latest report, Ofsted noted that ‘staff morale is extremely high’ at the academy and that with help from other members of the Outwood Family, we provide our staff with a varied training programme.

We have also won numerous awards as a school and we have been accredited with the prestigious IQM Award, which highlights that inclusion at all levels is of paramount importance to us. We are also proud to have been awarded Silver Status by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health Award. In addition, we received the Anti-Bullying Alliance's Bronze Award by completing their United Against Bullying Whole School Programme for 21-22 and 22-23. Aiming for silver this year!

We have achieved our success while fostering a hard-working school community that is welcoming and friendly, allowing students and staff to make excellent progress together.

Put simply, we know our remarkable achievements would not have been possible without the fantastic efforts from our colleagues. Help to take us to the next level.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.
