SEN Teacher job summary

Are you a qualified teacher with SEN experience? Do you want to working in a nurturing, caring and dynamic school? At Churchfield, we have an increasing number of pupils who require specialist support with their cognition and learning needs and are seeking a teacher to teach a small class of KS1 and KS2 students every morning focusing on reading, writing and maths. You will be joining a team of experienced teachers and receive excellent support from Teaching Assistants who love what they do!

As a Special Needs Teacher at Churchfield you will be responsible for delivering schemes of work for core subjects, building rapport with students, managing behaviours and deploying TA’s to support where required. The school is looking for a positive role model for its students. This role requires QTS or QTLS teaching status and experience working with SEND.

Role:

Teaching a class of KS1/KS2 children with a variety of additional needs, including Autism, MLD and Complex Needs (working mainly at a KS1/EYFS level)

Utilising a highly experienced team of Teaching Assistants

Following a primary teaching model, teaching across the curriculum

Delivering lessons that make learning fun!

Ensuring that children’s needs are met and your knowledge of SEN is current

The successful candidate will:

Be flexible and willing to work hard towards school objectives

Have the ability to motivate, inspire and support pupils of all abilities

Have good communication skills

Have knowledge of curriculum provision for all learners

Have a good knowledge/experience of working with children with SEND needs

Have a good sense of humour and excellent interpersonal skills

This post is offered on a fixed term 0.6 contract to 31st August 2025.

With the exception of the Redundancy Payments Modification Order which applies, for the purposes of occupational entitlements, for example to sick pay or maternity pay, the Trust does not recognise continuous or aggregated service with other academy trusts or with local authorities.

Verification of successful completion of statutory induction period (applies to those who obtained QTS after 7th May 1999)
