The successful candidate will:
- Be passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential.
- Have experience of working as a SENCo in a primary school setting.
- Hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO)
- Have a secure understanding of SEND processes, provision mapping and funding arrangements.
- Have a calm, nurturing and child-centred approach.
- Be able to communicate effectively and share information clearly with class teachers, support staff and external agencies.
- Have experience of working closely with parents and carers to ensure positive outcomes for children.
- Have experience of planning and delivering SEND-related CPD and supporting colleagues to develop inclusive practice.
- Have the ability to establish constructive working relationships with pupils, parents/carers, colleagues and outside agencies.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Be committed to promoting inclusion and ensuring that pupils with additional needs are able to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
- Demonstrate strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy school environment.
Job Purpose To lead and manage the provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that all pupils are able to access a broad and balanced curriculum and achieve their full potential.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the SENCo will contribute to the strategic leadership and development of the school, championing inclusion and ensuring that pupils with SEND are able to thrive and achieve their full potential.
To work collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies to promote inclusion, raise achievement and secure positive outcomes for all pupils.

The role will include:
- Leading and coordinating the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND policy and provision.
- Working closely with teachers and support staff to ensure that high-quality teaching and appropriate interventions meet the needs of pupils with SEND.
- Identifying and assessing pupils with additional needs and monitoring the impact of provision to ensure progress and achievement.
- Communicating effectively with pupils, families, carers, colleagues and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for children.
- Supporting and advising staff on inclusive practice, teaching and learning strategies and appropriate behaviour management approaches.
- Coordinating Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), annual reviews and applications for additional funding.
- Leading SEND-related professional development and promoting a culture of inclusion across the school.
- Supporting pupils’ personal, social and emotional development and promoting their independence, self-esteem and wellbeing.
- Establishing and maintaining effective partnerships with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Ensuring statutory requirements relating to SEND are met and maintaining accurate records to support effective provision.
