SEND – ELSA and admin support assistant job summary
Hours: 30 per week (8:45am – 3:15pm with a 30-minute lunch)
Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and promoting emotional wellbeing in a school environment? Redwell Primary School are looking for a caring and organised SEND – ELSA and Admin Support Assistant to join their dedicated team.
About the Role:
This is a varied and rewarding role supporting our Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) in two key areas:
Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) – 50%
Work directly with pupils to provide emotional support, including sessions on self-esteem, friendship, anxiety, and more. Help build trusting relationships and promote emotional resilience within the school setting.
SEND Administrative Support – 50%
Assist in managing SEND records, organising EHCP and PLP documents, liaising with parents and external agencies, and ensuring the effective coordination of SEND provision.
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
Has a good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths)
Has experience supporting children with SEND, including those with emotional or mental health needs
Is highly organised and confident using Microsoft Office and school systems like Arbor
Communicates clearly and works well both independently and as part of a team
Brings a positive, flexible, and proactive attitude to their work
(Ideally) is ELSA-trained, or willing to undertake ELSA training
