What skills and experience we're looking for
The children, staff and governors of Ecclesfield Primary School are seeking to appoint a SENDCO to start in May 2025. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of our two-form entry primary school situated on the outskirts of Sheffield. This post is suitable for an experienced qualified SENDCO or an experienced teacher who is keen to become a SENDCO and study for the mandatory SENDCO qualification.
We are looking for someone who will:
- Drive improvement in provision and outcomes for children and champion inclusion across all year groups
- Successfully implement the requirements of the SEND Code of Practice (September 2014)
- Ensure that pupils with additional needs and SEND are targeted and supported through effective provision, and their progress closely monitored
- Work with the Executive Headteacher, Head of School and SLT to undertake appropriate data analysis to support this process and support class teachers with the same
- Support colleagues and lead professional development, through example, support and INSET, drawing on external expertise where necessary
- Ensure that ECTS are adequately supported in responding to pupils with SEND
- Work with SLT to develop plans of support and intervention, leading to effective programmes and support class teachers and teaching assistants in the implementation of these
- Develop systems for colleagues to monitor and record progress made by pupils with SEND towards the achievement of outcomes set in pupil support plans and Education and Health Care Plans.
- Review Education and Health Care plans and support plans with parents, pupils and teachers and agree and communicate new outcomes.
- Work with parents to develop an understanding of a range of SEND needs and strategies which can be used to support pupils.
- Work with external agencies to add evidence towards Education and Health Care Plans in preparation for request to assess.
- Apply for additional funding and support, organise and chair reviews where necessary regarding EHCPs.
- Manage the budget allocation, taking into consideration clearly identified priorities
- Act as effective line-manager for teaching assistants
