Senior Administrator job summary

About the Role

The Senior Academy Administrator will provide high‑level administrative support to ensure the effective operation of all academy office functions. You will lead on a range of administrative processes, support staff, liaise with parents and stakeholders, and contribute to maintaining accurate records and compliance with school and Trust procedures.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, a high level of accuracy, strong communication abilities and the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support across the academy.
  • Manage and maintain accurate computerised and manual records.
  • Lead and support a wide range of office functions including reception, communication, data, and documentation.
  • Prepare reports, letters and professional correspondence.
  • Liaise effectively with staff, parents, external agencies and visitors.
  • Follow established procedures and ensure compliance with safeguarding, data protection and internal policies.
  • Assist in the coordination and organisation of academy processes and events.
  • Use a variety of systems, including Microsoft Office, database applications, finance systems and school MIS.

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Essential

  • Extensive experience working in an office environment.
  • Experience across a wide range of administrative functions.
  • Strong word‑processing and IT skills, including Microsoft Word and other digital applications.
  • Experience using database systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to follow procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritise, multitask and remain focused in a busy environment.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and equal opportunities.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a school or MAT office.
  • Experience with finance systems and PSF.
  • Experience with school MIS (including Bromcom).
  • Minute‑taking experience.
  • Intermediate or higher qualification in Word processing/typing.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
