What skills and experience we're looking for
The Role
Brookfield Community School is seeking to appoint a motivated and experienced Senior Science Technician to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality science education.
Working closely with the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will support the work of staff and students in the school’s laboratories and classrooms, ensuring that practical lessons are well-prepared, safe and efficient.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone organised, proactive and passionate about supporting science education.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Work closely with science teachers to support teaching and learning across Key Stages
- Prepare, set up and clear away equipment, chemicals and materials for practical lessons
- Ensure laboratories, prep rooms and classrooms are safe, organised and well-maintained
- Oversee stock control, ordering and storage of equipment and resources
- Maintain accurate records, including health and safety documentation
- Support the development of practical activities, including testing and preparing experiments
- Lead on health and safety requirements (e.g. COSHH, CLEAPSS guidance)
- Provide guidance and support to other technicians where appropriate
- Liaise with science staff to ensure resources meet curriculum needs
The Ideal Candidate

- Has experience working in a school laboratory or similar environment
- Has strong organisational and time management skills
- Demonstrates a good understanding of laboratory health and safety
- Is able to work independently and as part of a team
- Has a proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach
- Is committed to supporting students and staff to achieve the best outcomes
