Requirements

Essential

1. Education and Qualifications

  • Level 3 SEND qualification achieved or working towards

2. Experience

  • Experience of working in Early Years as part of a team
  • Work with children in the 2–4-year-old range in an early years setting
  • Work with children who have social or Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Experience of mentoring and supporting other colleagues
  • Substantial experience of working with families

3. Knowledge, understanding and skills

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • Good knowledge of current legislation and the Practice
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the Common Assessment Framework, HNF and EHC’s.

4. Competencies, Attitudes and Social Skills

  • A commitment to the inclusion of children with special / additional needs and a willingness to undertake training
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work professionally and sensitively with parents and other agencies
  • A willingness to act on advice of outside agencies
  • Ability to work supportively and effectively with colleagues
  • Ability to organise time and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate good practical administrative and organisational skills
  • Good literacy skills with the ability to present written information to a variety of different agencies in a clear and coherent way
  • Good ICT skills
  • Highly developed influencing and negotiation skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Non-judgmental attitude in relation to working with families

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and ambitious management team at Camrose Early Years Centre. The centre recently created a nurture-based provision for children with significant to moderate communication and interaction needs which is becoming an established and reputable provision for the community.

The Special Needs Co-ordinator will be key in supporting the already established nursery team, with the co-ordination and delivery of high-quality education and care for children with special education needs.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individual, with experience in working with children that have special educational needs, and their families.

The successful applicant will be professional, adaptable and dedicated to delivering high quality teaching and be able to adapt practices to meet children’s individual needs. They must also have the skills to manage a case load, and co-ordinate the support and referral process for children with SEND. They must have the skills to inspire and motivate a team of practitioners and support them with strengthening their inclusive practice and knowledge further.

As Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, they will support the team with implementing all safeguarding policies and practices.

We are looking for applicants with strong communication skills who will be able to build and maintain respectful and effective relationships with staff, children and their families. You will be motivated and resilient with excellent organisational, interpersonal and time management skills.
