Headteacher

St Mary Magdalene Church of England Primary Academy

Start date: Autumn Term 2026 Leadership range: L15-21

Are children genuinely at the heart of your work? Are you ready to lead a Church of England academy with ambition, care and purpose?

The Directors of The Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham Multi Academy Trust (SNMAT) are seeking to appoint an exceptional Headteacher to lead St Mary Magdalene Church of England Primary Academy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a values‑driven leader who is committed to serving their community, developing staff and ensuring that every child flourishes academically, socially and spiritually.

About St Mary Magdalene Church of England Primary Academy

St Mary’s isn’t just a school; it’s a brave, forward-thinking family in which children come first. Staff know that their work can change lives and because of this, strive to be at the forefront of primary education. It is our unequivocal belief that all children should be given the very best chance to succeed and experience childhood in all its fullness.

We’ve worked hard to build a research-based approach to learning, progressive curriculum and innovative learning environments. Likewise, we’re looking for a Headteacher who shares our values and is willing to go the extra mile: someone who is altruistic, tenacious and ambitious for all our children. This role demands real dedication and an unwavering commitment to our community.

We warmly encourage prospective applicants to visit the academy to experience our warm-hearted spirit and collegiate approach first‑hand, and to meet the children and staff who make it such a special place to learn and work.

The successful candidate will:

  • Place children unequivocally at the heart of all decision‑making.
  • Inspire, support and develop colleagues to be the very best they can be.
  • Live out and promote the academy’s Christian vision and values in daily practice.
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in primary leadership and pedagogy.
  • Lead with integrity, resilience and moral courage.
  • Set and sustain high expectations for pupils, staff and themselves.

What the school offers its staff

What we offer

As part of SNMAT, you will be supported by a Trust that does things differently:

  • We are not corporate and do not impose pedagogical models.
  • We value stability and do not move leaders or teachers around at short notice.
  • We believe our strength lies in the quality of our people and the relationships we build.

You will be part of a strong Senior Leadership Team of Headteachers, working collaboratively across the Trust, and will receive bespoke professional development tailored to your experience and aspirations. Our academy improvement team and expert practitioners will work alongside you, offering challenge, support and encouragement.

We want our leaders to stay, grow and thrive within the Trust – and we actively create opportunities to keep you inspired and fulfilled in your role.

This is a rare opportunity to make a genuine and lasting difference, leading a Church of England academy at the heart of its community.
