What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a driven and well-qualified Subject Lead who, under the support and guidance of the Director of Design, Art and Technology, will assist with the development of Design Technology (Food & Child Development) in the school. We welcome innovative and creative ideas and enjoy giving DT teachers the autonomy to teach to their strengths whilst also contributing to their professional development. Applications are welcomed from ECT 2’s and those with a proven track record of success in the classroom. The ability to teach Food & Nutrition is essential. We have an exciting opportunity for a Subject Lead for Food & Nutrition and Child Development (ability to teach Food & Nutrition) to join a large and well-resourced curriculum team. Design technology is extremely popular and over-subscribed at both GCSE and A Level, and we offer a wide range of subjects. Each subject area (product design, textiles, food, art, engineering, construction, creative technology and child development) consists of at least 2 specialist rooms with a compliment of specialist resources as well as our own computer suite. The large curriculum team consists of experienced teachers and 3 technicians who will always offer help and guidance to make staff feel welcome and supported both within the team and the school.

Your suitability to work with children and young people will form part of the selection process. For this post, prior to appointment Futura Learning Partnership will apply for a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring check, a Children’s Barred list check, two satisfactory references, satisfactory pre-employment health screening and for Teachers, a Prohibition Check in relation to the children’s workforce. In some settings a Declaration will be required in order to meet our obligations under the ‘Disqualification under the Childcare Act 2006’.
