Teacher job summary

We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our welcoming one-form entry school in a role that combines high-quality teaching, strong relationships and a commitment to ensuring that every child can thrive.

Following a change in our staffing, we seeking to appoint a full-time Class Teacher and SENDCo to start on 1st January 2027, fixed term until 31st August 2027.

This is a full-time role combining classroom teaching with responsibility for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across the school and nursery.

The teaching element of the role will be within our Year 2 class, working alongside our Deputy Headteacher, who will share the teaching responsibility for the class. This provides a particularly positive opportunity for the successful candidate: you will have a trusted and experienced colleague sharing the class with you, allowing you dedicated time to undertake SENDCo responsibilities, meet with colleagues and families, liaise with external professionals and complete SEND leadership work without the usual concern of needing to return immediately to the classroom.

We recognise that SENDCo responsibilities require protected time and focused attention. This structure therefore provides an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to combine classroom teaching with SEND leadership while working as part of a supportive leadership team.

You will work closely with teachers, support staff, families and external professionals to ensure that children with SEND receive the right support and that our inclusive approach is embedded across the school.

At Blandford St Mary, teamwork is at the heart of our success. You will be joining a supportive staff team where colleagues share ideas, work collaboratively and are encouraged to develop their practice. Our vision, ‘Knowing we are loved, we learn and grow to be the best that we can be,’ underpins everything we do.

We can offer enthusiastic and articulate children, a welcoming school community, supportive leadership and a genuine commitment to staff development and wellbeing. Above all, we are looking for someone who will become part of our school family and share our commitment to helping every child be the best that they can be.

We want our staff to thrive so we offer an extensive range of wellness services and professional learning opportunities to support growth and development. Please visit our website for further details: Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust - Wellness

We value the diversity of our workforce and welcome applications from all. If you are interested in this position and would like to have a more detailed conversation before making the decision to apply for the post, please give us a call and we will be happy to help you with as much detail as possible to support this process.

When you have enough information to make your decision to apply, please complete all sections of the application form. CVs will not be accepted.

All applicants will be notified of the shortlisting decisions by email. References for shortlisted candidates will be requested before interviews.
