The Art and Technology Department
Christ’s Art Department aim is to engage, inspire and challenge pupils, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of Art, Craft and Design. As pupils progress through the school, they should be able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of Art and Design.
The Department has two large well-equipped specialist rooms with an adjoining kiln room and is led by Mr Hordern an Art specialist and Head of Facility and by the Faculties Technician Nicola Breen. The Department ensures all schemes of study cover the traditional aspects of Art and Design material topics such as painting,
sculpture and printmaking whilst recognising the need to teach specific contemporary skill sets in digital media and photography. Art is a popular option at KS4 and has successfully established itself at KS5.
