The Role
Fernhill School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, suitably qualified teacher of Design Technology for GCSE Resistant Materials, and also Key Stage 3. The subject is popular within the school and the department is well resourced and spacious. A technician supports the department. A passion for developing young adults is essential: this entails a commitment to all learners, to excellence for all, and a belief that a good school can and does make a significant difference to learners’ life chances and levels of attainment. Whilst the candidate must be able to teach GCSE and Key Stage 3 Resistant Materials, the school is flexible about other disciplines that interested candidates can offer at Key Stage 3, including new subject areas not currently on the school curriculum.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will:
• have a proven track record of teaching Design Technology/Resistant Materials at KS3 and KS4 or experience of this during their training year
• have a passion for the subject and the ability to inspire our students
• be an excellent classroom teacher who can challenge all our learners to achieve their very best
• have relevant qualifications and experience, including a DfE recognised teaching qualification
• be an innovative teacher, focused on raising attainment
• the ability to offer another DT subject, e.g. Food Technology, Graphics, Textiles or something new, would be an advantage

Please include a paragraph in your application on your philosophy of teaching, including what you believe outstanding teaching looks like. We look forward to hearing from you.
