St Mary’s is a very successful and oversubscribed Catholic Secondary School. Our most recent Ofsted inspection judged St Mary’s to be ‘Outstanding across all categories describing parents’ and pupils’ experiences of the school as ‘overwhelmingly positive’, and highlighting the ‘highest expectations’ for teaching, learning and behaviour. Attainment and progress at the end of Key Stage 4 are consistently strong and significantly above local and national averages. Our academic results see us regularly placed in the top 10% of all schools nationally.
Our Section 48 Inspection in March 2019 rated St Mary’s as ‘Excellent’ for all key judgements. The school is a truly cohesive community which reflects Gospel values and pupils feel highly valued for everything they achieve.
We are a very close knit and caring community situated in a small village just outside of Hereford and we enjoy a beautiful rural environment. As a school we are forward thinking, innovative and dynamic in our approach to teaching and learning and we have excellent support from both Governors and parents. We are very proud of our caring and inclusive reputation and have a strong team of professionals committed to developing and delivering a rich learning experience for all our pupils.
We are looking to appoint a highly imaginative and enthusiastic English teacher to cover maternity absence:-
• Applicants must be highly capable classroom practitioners, with the ability to deliver engaging and outstanding English lessons, and be committed to raising the achievements of all pupils.
• Ensure that the teaching across the Department is of the highest quality and is innovative, engaging and enjoyable whilst committed to driving standards to ensure whole school impact.
• The successful candidate will enjoy strong support from a dedicated English Department.
The School is committed to the protection and safety of its pupils and therefore all candidates will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at Enhanced Level.
Commitment to safeguarding
St Mary’s High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced check and further pre-employment checks will be conducted in accordance with KCSIE. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children
