Teaching Assistant job summary

We are looking for a Temporary Teaching Assistant (level 1) to provide maternity cover and who, working under the direct instruction of our wonderful teaching team and based largely  in the classroom, can support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher.  This position would suit a positive, energetic, proactive team-player who is looking to start their career in education or just wants to make a difference!

Responsibilities include:

• Attend to the pupils’ personal needs, and implement related personal programmes, including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid and welfare matters
• Support pupils to understand instructions
• Support the teacher in managing pupil behaviour
• Prepare classroom as directed for lessons, clear afterwards and assist with the display of pupils’ work
• Be aware of pupil problems/progress/achievements and report to the teacher

Weston All Saints Church of England Primary School, known as WASPS, is a large school for 4-11 year olds, set in the village of Weston on the edge of Bath. Our school is a beautiful location in its own right; the school buildings and perfectly landscaped learning and play areas complement the natural hill and vale, in which the school is nestled. The site is split into three key learnings zones – a wonderful, early years’ centre (little WASPS) and Middle and Upper WASPS for the older pupils. In September 2018, we joined The Partnership Trust, which is a thriving multi-academy Trust.

Our school has a committed staff with a wide variety of experience and expertise and is supported by a supportive PTA and Governing Body. We value our strong links with Weston All Saints Church and the Christian foundation of the school is reflected in all aspects of school life.
