What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a teaching assistant who:

  • has a passion for providing tailored support to students with varying needs, both with groups and on a one-to-one basis.
  • works collaboratively with teachers to support the social and emotional development of pupils, creating a positive, supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • will assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs).
  • will be responsible for carrying out interventions in relation to IEPs.
  • will monitor and report on pupil progress, contributing to assessment and IEP reviews.
  • will assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources.
  • values strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • will provide lunchtime supervision.
  • will uphold and promote the Christian ethos of the school.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant qualification in education or childcare.
  • Evidence of professional development relevant to supporting learning.
  • Experience of working with and successfully delivering support and interventions to children in a primary setting.
  • Strong understanding of child development and learning processes.
  • Effective behaviour management skills including knowledge of de-escalation and self-regulation techniques.
  • A willingness to be flexible and work across year groups, changing when needed.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An unwavering commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s development.
  • Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic school environment.
  • An ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An ability to build trusting relationship with pupils, staff and families.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity, well-being, and holistic child development.
  • Ability to uphold our school ethos and values of being a Caring, Celebratory, Courageous, Christ-inspired Community rooted in Love.
  • GCSE/ O Level/ EquivalentEnglish Grade C/ Grade 4 or above Mathematics Grade C/ Grade 4 or above.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of supporting KS1 and KS2 children.
  • Experience of supporting children with special educational needs.
  • Experience of working within a Church of England School.
  • A good understanding of SEND and strategies for inclusive teaching.
  • Competency in using IT for educational purposes.
  • A willingness to contribute to the wider school community.
  • Teaching Assistant Qualifications Level 2 or above.
