Teaching Assistant job summary

Harris Academy Merton is currently looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team of specialists.

Your opportunity

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding colleague to assist SEN students in making exceptional progress in our supportive and forward-thinking Academy. The successful candidate will provide in-class support, deliver interventions and develop resources in order to enhance our provision. The post would suit somebody with previous experience of working in a school or with young adults, who has a keen interest in enabling young people to fulfil their potential.

You will be able to offer the Academy:

Good Literacy and Numeracy skills
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Experience of working with young people in an educational environment
The desire to transform the educational experience for students and create an exceptional place of learning

As a member of our team you would be part of the Harris Federation of Schools which offers a range of opportunities including the Federation Teaching School Alliance. Teaching Assistants with appropriate qualifications have successfully moved on to these programmes after gaining relevant experience in our team.

About Harris Academy Merton

Harris Academy Merton serves students from Year 7 to Sixth Form, and has twice been judged Outstanding by Ofsted. The current student roll is 1200, with a planned increase in our Year 7 intake over the next two years taking our numbers from 180 to 240 students. Applications for places greatly exceed the places available. The academy is set in seven acres of land, containing five teaching blocks, a sports hall, a full size floodlit all weather pitch plus four full size floodlit tennis courts and our own playing fields as well as an administration building containing the assembly hall and dining hall. We are favourably located for public transport with good local access to bus, mainline train and underground links, as well as on-site parking for vehicles and bicycles.
