What the school offers its staff
A warm welcome to Dobcroft Junior School: we are delighted that you are interested in joining our wonderful team. We are a large junior school (374 pupils across 12 classes) in southwest Sheffield and we really pride ourselves on the provision that we provide to our pupils.
The role of teaching assistant at DJS is a varied and valued role which is crucial to ensuring our pupils get the holistic support that they need to thrive and progress. The role entails working across the key stage and we try to vary the specific duties to be a mixture of some of the following: working 1-1 with specific pupils in line with their EHCP, delivering general class support and delivering English, Maths (or social, emotional, pastoral) interventions for small groups of pupils of all abilities as directed by the class teachers.
Additionally, there would typically be timetabled slots to support pupils in the playground, for example some play leading at lunch time. We very much try to match a person’s timetable to their strengths as far as possible. If you have any questions regarding the role please contact the school office to speak to Hayley Little (SENDCo) or Sheree Doyle (Deputy Head Teacher). In the meantime, please use the person specification below to help support your written statement.
We will be offering school show rounds on 16th June and 23rd June (both at 3:45pm). Please call the school office to book.
Interviews will take place on 9th July 2026.
